Kerala has a new facility for under water conferences and after a couple got married underwater recently, a group of top CEOs did a conference underwater. You may think that this would have been a meeting of grave secrecy about business and profits, but it was not so. On the contrary it was about our lives, safety and health.

Clad in their scuba diving gears, the 5 CEOs did a meeting at the U-shaped table set-up for them at the ocean bed. According to Times of India, the CEOc included  Raja Gopal Iyer (Udaya Samudra Group of Hotels), Hema Menon (UST Global), Dinesh P Thampi (TCS), Dr Shyam Kumar (Neologix) and Rony Thomas (Avon Mobility Solutions).

5 Top Indian CEOs met underwater to take a pledge to protect marine life.

In those 20-minutes that they met underwater the CEOs took their pledge, they called their conference ‘Ocean Love’.“Through this unique event, we also wanted to bring the attention of international and national policy makers on the increased risks and consequences of global warming and marine pollution on the mother planet,” Jackson Peter, the managing director of Bond Safari, Kovalam told the Times of India. Bond Safari provided all technical support for the event.

The CEOs are concerned that by 2050 there will be more plastic in oceans than fish. They want to raise awareness.

“Raising resources to fight against marine pollution and global warming is another objective,” added Jackson. According to Ocean Love campaign organizers, the next step after the under water conference would be the formation of a club caalled Beach and Marine Environment Protection Club (BMEPC).

“Through this club, hotels and resorts located on the coastal belt of south India will formulate an agenda to reduce marine debris by constant routine beach and underwater cleaning, in association with agencies and experts in underwater diving and marine studies, having a close watch on keeping the marine life safe from debris and pollution,” they said according to Times of India. The club is expected to be launched on World Ocean Day on June 8.

Their meeting took place for 20-minutes on a table that was set-up especially for them.
